not to sound too new wavey, but I've found a combination of meditation, yoga and not drinking coffee after 2PM works really well (I have been a chronic insomniac since age 11). The yoga breathing stuff, if you *do* the breathing stuff helps you to focus on what your body is doing instead of your mind (not too unlike counting sheep, you learn to count breaths).

Then again you could just take the easy route and join in the great Minnesotan tradition of getting obliterated...

the breathing thing does often work, and i've not thought of that in quite some time. something to see about. mostly falling asleep isn't the trouble, (now that i'm actually awake during the day sleep usually comes pretty easily..) just wish there was a pause switch on my thoughts sometimes. it would help me *want to go to bed.

in the thinking or the being awake sense?

in the thinking sense. i suspect you can understand.

too, too well. i hope you find some useful way to make the thoughts behave. (in the old days, I drank. in the now/new days, I clean.)

In random news, I occasionally hear songs and think I should put them on a mix for you. Some day, I will enact this plan.

i should try cleaning. since it really needs to get done.

i actually have a playlist in itunes called "for kim" that i add songs to every now and then. some day. yes.

also, in my sticky notes along with quotes by dar and kris delmhorst and pope and yeats, is one from you.

I've said that, and I've heard so many other people say that.

I would say, if you can't master zazen, then just plunge into it and get it overwith.
