you're all la di da
Aug. 26th, 2003 02:45 amso i came over to wilson house to get some of my food, check on sorcha, and see if the ethernet port in the living room had been activated. (which it had.)
when i came in the back door the kitchen was burning up. there was a bunt cake on the counter with slices out of it, obviously having been baked a while ago. no one else was around. the over knobs were all turned to off, but the damn thing was still hot and the kitchen was a slightly gas-y smelling furnace. apparently the problem with the stove in this house not turning on has progressed to where it doesn't turn off either. i fiddled with the knob until it finally turned off, and now awhile later it's much cooler and less frightening in here. i hate to think what might have happened if i hadn't turned up. i mean, i was ready to call security if i couldn't get it to turn off within a few minutes.
dumb boys. if the oven doesn't cool down and the pilot light doesn't go off, the damn thing is still on. and do your dishes. the end.
i was mollified by the mangoes and vanilla ice cream i'd come looking for, and by my daily internet dose. sorcha thought the mango and ice cream thing was a fabulous idea too. she kept batting my hand down to try and get another taste of ice cream. cute spoiled little cat. now she's sprawled on the easy chair watching me type and she's too darling for me to shoo down quite yet. sweet little kitten. i'm trying to work out details with the girls who may take her for the year. i'm going to miss having her around.
i'm a good ways through prisoner of azkaban on mp3 now, though i must say i didn't get much done today other than that. i was lazy. i'm not very happy with myself about it. even if
zennerthanyou claims i'd earned a lazy day. i think part of it has to do with how oddly i've been sleeping. falling asleep has been really difficult lately, as with staying asleep. i chalk part of it up to being in a new strange place and the other part up to the confusion caused by futon on top of mattress. hard or soft, not a muddle of the two, thanks. i've spent far too much time working on new icons, or in some cases new versions of old icons now that i have something better to work with than paint or corel or whatever i had on my pc.
at any rate. i should probably drag myself home before my battery runs down. but first:
( i am far too amused by this. obviously. )
