it's snowing still
Dec. 4th, 2003 10:50 pmwent to run an errand tonight, and found myself smack in the middle of the northfield winter walk. it was insane to begin with, tons of people, stores giving out cookies and cocoa and cider at every turn, and sales galore. needless to say, i ended up spending money that i hadn't planned to. they were having a chocolate and tea tasting at the old bank (the one attached to the historical society. yes, the jesse james one.) with these amazing truffles. it really wasn't quite fair. they feed you amazing chocolate, then put boxes of it in front of you while the amazing chocolate is still in your system and you have almost no choice but to buy more. it's like drugs. really. so i now have a box of some of the best chocolate i've tasted in ages sitting here waiting for me to be good enough to deserve it. also, found a beautiful heavy-duty utilitarian-type quilt with a price tag of $25 on it--so cheap. then i found out it was 20% off on top of that. i have a pretty new quilt. now i don't have to go spend too much money on a new blanket at target. between chocolate and quilts and how pretty everything was once the snow started to fall... tonight was a good night. i don't generally feel like i quite fit in to the northfield community, but it's nights like this that make me really appreciate it, and the fact that for now, this really is home.
