bryiarrose: (waitress)
sick and tired of the disturbing dreams folks. seriously. especially when they wake me up.
can't decide though, which are worse--the ones where i flail out, or the ones that are just so creepy and unsettling that i don't want to fall back asleep for fear of dreaming them any further.

stayed up in the cities at my parents last night, taking advantage of their central air and expanded cable while they're all still off in canada riding trains and calling me on really bad cell connections and all. i, like others on my friends list, found myself tuned to the reruns of daria and my-so-called life and wondering what's up with the channel airing them. between that, the fantastic new shower contraption my dad's put in, and my old bed (now my little sister's) which i still sleep really well in, i call it mostly a success.

elsewise, i also put in a load of job applications yesterday. hit pretty much all of the restaurants in the uptown/calhoun square area plus a couple of other places. i continue to firmly believe that the red hair only works in my favor.

so yeah. that's what's up with me. trying to find a job, band practice this afternoon (finally!), if i'm lucky an interview or two sometime soon. then there's all that apartment and moving b.s., but we'll just leave that be for today. wish i could be heading off to baltimore with [livejournal.com profile] minervacat today... i'm jealous that she gets to escape the midwest, even if it is only for the weekend. min, go eat good crabcakes and a grilled chickensalad sandwich at cafe hon for me, okay? now i've made myself hungry. figures.
bryiarrose: (music or misery?)
it would seem there's a new cake album in the works. this can only be good news. why is october so far away? for that matter, why is august so far away?

while eating my parents food, i've discovered that special k red berries is surprisingly good. who knew.

as [livejournal.com profile] sinca pointed out a bit ago, apparently there's a new fiona apple album they're keeping from us:

"Fiona Apple's new album, Extraordinary Machine, has been shelved by Sony, according to a recent Rolling Stone interview with Jon Brion, her producer. Supposedly, Sony cannot find a single and is unsure how to promote the record. There is no word yet on how long this will take."

two songs have been leaked (you can find both here courtesy of citizen keith) and i think they're amazing. "extraordinary machine" came first and then a bit ago "better version of me" got out too. the first especially reminds me of something out of a 30's or 40's musical, the second, something like that crossed with more traditional fiona. at any rate, she's working with jon brion as producer, so i have complete faith that this will be a kick ass recording once sony gets off their asses and lets us have it.

and lastly, while i admit it's a terrible show upfront, outback jack is really terribly amusing. for those of you who aren't watching it yet (which i think makes anyone that's not [livejournal.com profile] borofish or myself), go watch tuesday night. this is the first reality show that i've actually had more than five minutes patience for, and that's something right? okay, maybe not. but it's really funny. trust me.

eta: wow i suck at linking today. think i've fixed it now though.

eta 2 so that i don't spam everyone: i've sold 12 songs and made $2.15! how cool is that? so cool.
