driving between northfield and home tonight, october asked to be acknowledged. the air through the vents full of the smell of fields that have been harvested... warm and dusky still, the earth beginning to dry but not yet cold and dead. traces of smoke and manure... but the sweet smell it has when mixed with soil... this is the season i love best, even if my body doesn't. luckily tonight it is still warm and mild out... if the clear crisp cold we had for a few days can hold back for a few more i'll be far happier for it, seeing as they still haven't managed to get the radiators working in our little building. but oh, the changing leaves and scents and really needing the quilt at night... part of me is so very ready for this.
