in other non-birthday related news.
i haven't been posting. i suck. i want to, i just haven't been. 'cause stuff. yeah.
also, i won my second set of concert tickets this year. drive 105 rocks.
this means that Friday i will be at the 400 bar listening to peter stuart. for free.
and so will someone else, but i haven't figured out who yet.
aren't i articulate? time to sleep.

wanted to tell you that "over you" is kicking my ass. I love it. I can't stop listening to it. also "not pretty enough" makes me cry.

not pretty enough can make me cry too... the lyrics at least. it was mostly the line "i sleep, i wake, i try hard not to break" that decided it for me as a cover. anyhow.

over you is one of those things i think of as 'a silly little song'. trav also loves it. always wants me to play it. sing it i can do, play it-- not so much. but i try. i wrote it when i was 16 or 17, or rather i was writing it and then it decided it wanted to be blues and protesting did no good. so. somewhere i have a tape of a teen-aged me singing it... very early tape recording. (and i'm never sure if i'm amused or horrified by how i sound. so young. but i blame part of it on the tape aging.) anyhow. yeah. enough babbling.

it's "is my heart too broken" that gets me, and I much prefer your delivery to hers.

I think it really does want to be blues. Part of why I love it is that I listen to it and think, damn, Rosie should sing the blues more often." And the lyrics are so different from what you usually write. I think it's a wonderful change in your repoirtire.

speaking of your songs, the other day coryphella (who's on my friends list) was asking for musicians that we listen to that no one has heard of. I hit some of yours - thea gilmore and eliza carthy - and some of mine - kelly hogan and blue october - and in the ensuing discussion, I mentioned you, and she asked if you had a CD. she was interested in your stuff and I was wondering how you felt about me sharing your music. I figured you wouldn't mind me putting a track of yours on a disc for cynicalcutie but other people. Cause I wanted to make sure that I wouldn't upset you if I used your stuff on mixes, or what you wanted me to tell coryphella about the availability of your stuff.

go ahead and give my stuff to anyone you'd like. i really believe that the only way to get known (if you're not corporate commercial material) is through distribution and word of mouth. so, yes. please. share whatever you'd like with whoever you'd like. i'll thank you for it.
