bryiarrose: (summer)

this weekend was good for my soul, my mind, and my confidence in certain things.

it's a toss up as to whether it was good for my body: lots of walking around in horribly hot sticky humid weather, lots of beer, and not a whole lot of sleep... i think in the end it'll even out.

it was spectacularly good to see people. on the short list, it was more than lovely to see elisa and [livejournal.com profile] almejor, and iain and justin and [livejournal.com profile] nenie, and great to finally meet ms. [livejournal.com profile] humpingbears. i didn't get to spend nearly enough time with either [livejournal.com profile] mirror_self or [livejournal.com profile] amojojo, and [livejournal.com profile] insidian was sorely missed.

[livejournal.com profile] lalalizbeth, you and i must have the worst timing on the planet or something, with our inability to connect... i think this will have to be remedied at some point, later this summer perhaps.

i managed not to slap anyone, threw a ton of people off guard because they didn't recognize me with my hair at first, and got drunk enough that i called evan (who is getting married! i cannot believe it--except i can), left a message for dave (who will be his best man), and even tried to call katherine but got some guy's vm instead. i danced at the cave, we broke into norse little theatre, and effectively cooed over all the tiny carl offspring. i made some silly confessions to people, all well received i think, and now i'm just left wishing a few other people had shown up, that i'd had more time to settle into it, and that i had the ability to make it out to connecticut in august for evan's wedding. i saw just enough current students and recent grads, and met alumni i didn't know before, and it seems like my plan to finish up school at some point was well received by some of the people that matter. it also seems like i may end up involved in some things in more of an alumni aspect. we'll see.

at any rate, there's the simple rundown of the weekend. the thoughtful bits might come later, or they might just tough it out in my head. *shrug* worth having them around, either way.

i know! after all the hours and hours i listened to him talk about how there wasn't any point in marriage, and how maybe he'd live with someone long term but not marry, well. he's finally seen the point, and that's that the girl wants a ring if she's going to stick around. it's the same girl he met in the peace corps a few years ago, they've been together since. so. *shrug* he sounds good, from what i know i think it's a good thing.

That sounds like a really nice weekend. It makes me less worried about my high school reunion.
