not my day

today, everyone is mowing their leaves.

to this i say two things.
1. what the hell?
2. for the love of god stop it.

my lungs are anything but pleased. walking to class this morning i passed three different mowers tearing through leaves and wreaking havoc on my bronchial system. by the time i got to class it felt like i was breathing through fiberglass insulation. not how i wanted to start my day.

also, my shoelace broke. and neither of my papers are done.
i want a nap, but instead i have cocoa. with marshmallows.

the two things i was going to post about friday and didn't:

1. in classes friday, i could have been a two-year-old on crack for all the good my ritalin did me. so fidgety! so fidgety! seriously. could not sit still for anything. had the matching attention span for chunks of the day as well. it's been awhile since this has really happened. and i was even on my meds. odd.

2. my week brightener. thea gilmore's mailing list had a contest where if you were one of x number of people to reply first you got a free copy of her brand new unreleased (and not being released for that matter) covers album. i didn't think i'd won since i heard nothing back and was bummed because being stuck over here in america i can't get to a show to buy it. then i got an email about a week and a half ago addressed to "the owners of loft music"--the new album. so i waited. and friday it finally turned up in my box. lovely. oh so lovely. i listened to it twice in the car and haven't had a chance to sit down with it since, but it's so good. made me very very happy. if you don't know who thea gilmore is, go check her out. now.

track listing for those who wonder )

now off to be fitted for my stupid singers dress and scream some bach.
