acapella. yes i do miss it.
Nov. 20th, 2003 07:47 pmyesterday was the last day of classes and so as usual there was the end of term knights concert. this year however they combined with the accidentals so it was better than usual. the dentals are lovely lovely women and some of their arrangements just take my breath away. the perfect arrangement of alarm call with madeline on the solo? yeah. that's one. emily and sarah and jess (alums) were there and so they asked for alums onstage to sing wanting memories. since i'd gotten there late and was hovering hidden in the back there was no one to force me onstage and i debated with myself over it for a minute before dashing up too. i know they're going to have at least one girl off campus next term and i really hope they decide they either need to have auditions again or that they want me back. chances are pretty good that one of those will happen. anyhow. they were stunning and i adore them.
and then there were the knights. who were better than i've heard them be in years. i seriously think that i've heard maybe one formation of the group that was better since i first came to carleton. i was blown away. they were pretty good last year, but nothing out of the ordinary. while there are some that won't be happy with me for saying it, but i think graduating some of the guys they did last year has made a huge difference. they'd come a long ways since they were freshmen, but the fact remained that some of their egos were more impressive than their voices. and now that they've had a chance to add some new blood, they've found some wonderful voices and a group dynamic that's so much fun to watch. not to mention great new arrangements. like i told some of them, these are the knights that the whole campus is going to fall for again. the way it has been at times, the way it should be.
good concert, certainly worth being late for work. and oddly (or maybe not... i do kind of stick out with the red hair) after i did get to work, quite a few people mentioned me being onstage. i don't know. that's something though... people do seem to recognize me now that my hair is shockingly red. i'm babbling. i should quit typing this and go type what i really should be typing. because in my papers, babbling is not only allowed, it's encouraged.
