bryiarrose: (faramir by shinken)
after neglecting my computer something fierce for a few days, i'm now caught up on the 250-some backposts that made up my friends page. with that out of the way, i need to wish [livejournal.com profile] swirlinglilies, [livejournal.com profile] ej, and [livejournal.com profile] wonderhorn very happy belated birthdays. i hope you all have wonderful years. next comes my whining about [livejournal.com profile] amojojo being in town and me not realizing until now when i'm supposed to be getting mad amounts of work done and then running off to chicago somehow. i wanna play with the cool kids! even the cool kids who are here all the time that i don't get to see... it makes me wonder what i've done with my break. the answer i've been giving most often when people ask? i say i've been sleeping. because i have. sleeping and working, though not working as well or maybe as much as i should have been. i have no self-discipline, but then this is old news.
lots of things i've been meaning to post about... the $50 in chipotle gift certificates i got for christmas (and avocados in my stocking), the parents-aren't-home type party that went on in my house last night until nearly six a.m. and kept waking me up, how my car and computer both seem to be behaving a bit better but still make me nervous (the car bit hindering my decisiveness re: chicago), christmas eve stories, my gorgeous new hair cut/color, getting to see mike and elisa and going to cafe barbette, plus a slew of other things. but right now i'm craving food and watching moby dick on tv in hopes of finding the bit of inspiration i still need for my paper, and so won't go into details.
it's gloomy and windy out today, and though i need a couple of things at the store i really don't want to go out. then again, not starting my car could be a very bad thing, so i probably will at some point. terribly interesting, i know.

i really should see [livejournal.com profile] amojojo and [livejournal.com profile] notmonochrome & [livejournal.com profile] nicepersonality at some point because i have stuff for them. amo, if i don't get to see you while you're here i can send you yours. yes.
bryiarrose: (music or misery?)
target blind-sided me. i spent too much money, but for what seemed like good reasons.
for example:
  • new brush that isn't too big for my current cut

  • christmas lights majorly onsale, meaning i'll have plenty of light in my apt whether my dad ever finishes fixing my lamp or not.

  • b&w film and other things i need for new years

  • four dvd's for $35: moulin rouge, romeo & juliet, spiderman and the matrix. (all movies i've planned on buying at some point and doubt i'll find cheaper anytime soon.)

the dvd's can be the second part of my christmas present to myself i suppose. or maybe the third part if i'm counting the ex-library first edition copy of diana wynne jones' fire and hemlock i found online and bought for $5 including shipping. said book makes me terribly happy... reading any other edition just doesn't feel right after reading this version so many times as i grew up. so yes. good things.

and now i'm talking to the boy, which is also good. will spam more at some point.
