Mar. 8th, 2004 02:01 pmthe winds of the past few days seem to have taken their toll. branch after branch from my favorite tree on campus split in two. the tree i tell my seasons by, the perfect japanese maple with a rock at its base which corners the music & drama building. it looks so wounded with the pale wood exposed, black ants dormant in the cracks and sun.
there was snow this morning, and there is sunshine now. and small green and yellow shoots in front of the english department, brave enough to declare minnesota's first full week of march as spring. i want to think they're daffodils (my favorite spring flower) but something in me says only crocuses are quite that foolish and that brave.
