we all have issues
Apr. 11th, 2003 06:12 amso i'm up working on my reading (and subsequent paper) that's due for class tomorrow. mainly because my sleep patterns have once again fucked up my week. i slept though everything up until singers (that being class, pe, and work) both Tuesday and Thursday leaving me in not so good a spot for the next eight weeks. we'll see how much damage i can repair. work may be the biggest problem, the rest not as much unless i get horribly sick at some point. and it's nearly spring so we'll hope i don't.
at any rate, i thought i'd take this break to look up sleep disorders a little bit.
i always kind of wonder because i seem to sleep like no one else i know. looking through descriptions and definitions, hypersomnia sounds very nearly right.
Hypersomnia is a disorder that is characterized by excessive sleepiness lasting for at least a month. The sufferer has long undisturbed sleep periods, with difficulty waking up. They may have what is termed sleep drunkenness, which is a time of disorientation upon waking. They often take long daytime naps, which do little to refresh and recharge them.
also hypersomnolence. which is similar but adds
The cause of idiopathic hypersomnolence is not exactly known, but studies have linked cases to viral infections, such as pneumonia and mononucleosis.
and this all really started the term that i had my mono-thing.
i'm not sure if it's good or bad that i found things that seem possible. scary maybe. but sleep and sleeping do mess things up for me fairly often in life. and if it was just me and easy to fix, you'd think (and i think) i would have by now. think i'm going to go and try and bug the wellness center to begin with. see what they say. anyhow. back to work or something.
