i just caught another spider on my computer. a tiny tiny one running across the keyboard. i didn't know that naming arianwen after a magical spider would cause her to attract other spiders. i mean, maybe she's not. but i've never seen a spider on any other computer of mine. (i know i'm being somewhat silly, but i think i'm entitled.)

though yesterday was lovely, i couldn't wake up for anything today. and really there wasn't any good reason for it. finally dragged myself out of bed this afternoon, but i've been dazed ever since.
called my dad. we're probably going to go file against my ex-landlord for not returning my deposit and certainly not being legal about it. if i get my $250 back i'll be happy. if i end up with $500 or $700 i'll be thrilled. right now i don't know how i'm paying my first month's rent, so i'd better get at least what i gave him to begin with.
oh. and also. my dad emailed me a job posting tonight. for assistant manager at a mcdonald's in egan. um. sorry. no. i know i need a job badly. but a) they're not going to hire me for a month and b) i'm not driving all the way up to egan to work at mcdonald's. sorry. no.
fun through tonight, was only slightly fun. most people decided they just wanted to get the hell out of the theater as soon as possible and so didn't want to be silly. we were out of the theater at about 8:30, but i think we would have had a better time if we'd actually done the fun-through.

unless i'm mistaken, a second ago it looked like a spider (the same one or different, i don't know) was beginning to build a web from the corner of arianwen's screen to the lowest bookshelf above her. hmm. curiouser and curiouser. if anyone wants some good ya reading recommendations, i'd suggest picking up the snow spider trilogy by jenny nimo. she's welsh, and the books are fabulous.

anyhow. time to go back to my game for a little while, since i'm actually making progress for once. then i suppose i'll go next door see if people have given up and gone to sleep or are still watching anime. and finally, i plan to finish amelie since i fell asleep last night.

Spider, Spider

So I was dipping my feet in some nice hot water in the tub last night, and I saw a daddy longlegs scaling the wall. It was missing one leg on its left side but it didn't seem to mind, I thought it was really cool how it was finding a way to scale the smooth tile. Then I heard a little voice inside me say "don't watch it too much longer". A few seconds later the spider slipped and fell straight into the water, I shut off the water as quickly as I could but it still wasn't fast enough, the spider sort of turned into limp rags. I guess it was a comination of drowned and instantly cooked. I put it onto some toilet paper and picked htat out, but I don't think it ever recovered.

Two questions:

What game did you go back to?
Are you _in_ on of Carleton's Acapella groups, Exit 69 perhaps?

war craft 3. my new (sometimes) addiction.

before i took time off from carleton i was in both exit 69 and the accidentals. not to mention all of the other extracurriculars i was doing. i'm not doing any acapella currently, though i miss it with a passion. i have to convince myself about once a month that it wouldn't be a good idea to go back. damn needing to graduate getting in the way of good music.

p.s. sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. life's been hectic and internet access has been sketchy.

Warcraft 3 huh? That's a classic game. Some of my friends who are new to the world of gaming really find they can get into some War3. So it's not maybe as popular as the Sims as a gateway game, but it's got a small niche.

As for having to drop some extracurriculars to get down to work, I've met plenty of Carleton students who have that serious academic attitude. Lots of people stressing over their COMPS and working really hard is sort of an image I have of Carleton students.

That's great that you like acappella, it's good to know there are people out there who share an appreciation. I saw some audition signs for the Knightengales that said "->Anyone<- Welcome to Audition." So I did, even though I'm not "female". They didn't call me back, but I did end up being the only guy in a short-lived St. Olaf acapellla group called Odd Man Out fittingly enough. It was a good sound, largely female but with a deep bass (I'm Bass2/Vocal Percussion... often at the same time! ; -)
