catching up, falling behind.

so i promised to post quite a few days ago and didn't.
but i had good excuses, i think.
zennerthanyou being in town for a few days probably heading the list. it was wonderful to have him here, especially since it was for just a bit longer than we've gotten to spend other weekends. just enough time to calm down and just be together. and get thoroughly spoiled again. obviously i've been missing him already.
the other excuses have to do with homework and sleep and things like that. not nearly so interesting or as cuddly. therefore i will spare you the details.
while the rest of my friends page (with a heavy chicago base) seems to be getting the misty tolerable weather it seemed like we'd share this morning, halfway through my first class the rain starting slushing against the windows and then turned to snow in earnest. slushy wet clumps of snow that cause big slushy puddles over every thing, but snow none the less. now it seems to have given up the slush factor a bit and is settling for winds that, from inside my little apartment, sound loud and blustery. yesterday it was in the mid-60's and last night i didn't need my coat. don't we love minnesota weather? (actually, it's not the weather i mind. it's the indecision. logical progression of weather i tell you! seasons! yes.)
kris delmhorst is playing at the bryant lake bowl tonight. i'm dreadfully disappointed that i can't go. the reasons i can't go are even more disappointing. a) i have too much work to justify taking the night to go to the cities, especially when i'm stuck with a singers rehearsal at macalaster tomorrow that will take the whole night. b) i have a scic shift that starts at nine, the concert starts at eight. c) now with the weather, even if i tried to go it would take so long that justifying it would be difficult. but i desperately want to go. just to buy her new album if nothing else. (if anyone up in the cities is going to be near blb after 7:30 tonight and wants to pick it up for me, i would gladly pay you back and give you plenty of gratitude and sweets. also, go see the show. tickets aren't that much and she's fantastic.) but so. pouting about that.
this week is being eaten by the bach gloria singers is doing with the rest of carleton choiry people, macalaster choiry people, and the st. paul civic (?) orchestra. i've been debating whether this is worse than the african sanctus we suffered through my freshman year. the rehearsal/performance time is certainly more annoying.
if that wasn't enough, i've tried to compute what work i have left this term. it's ninth week, which means the last day of classes is (*gulp*) a week from today, then reading days and then finals. two weeks from now i'll be on vacation for a whole blessed month. can. not. wait. but before then i have probably 40 pages of writing to do, a cs take home exam, and a final exam. i am anything but thrilled. in fact, i'm simultaneously over and underwhelmed. no fun for me for awhile.
this also means that the transferring of last weeks gig to a format other than minidisc is being put off as well. tried to get it done over the weekend, but due to level settings on the computer and the new software i'm not familiar with, it didn't work out. pops and cracks in the recording that shouldn't be there and a lot of frustration when it came to trying to put track marks in and reformat even the crappy recording. so. as soon as i'm able, i promise. every one that wants one will have a copy of
Rose Norris with band: Mike Berman, Travis Lund

now i have to bundle up again and dash off to voice. i, like everyone else today, would just like to crawl back in bed and sleep and dream and read. maybe watch movies. also, want my airport to work again! it hasn't worked properly since i've installed panther, despite downloading all of the updates. it recognizes the connection, but for some reason can't pull an ip address either at home or at school. if any one's got any ideas i'd welcome them. okay. running out into the slush and snow.
oh! also. saw X2 again this weekend at sumo with eric. will post about that later. self, are you listening? post about X2. okay. now i'm really going.
eta: this wouldn't post when i had to leave. back dated now. yup.
but i had good excuses, i think.
