i want to pose a question.

do you think that you can reach a point in a relationship with someone where there ceases to be meaning?

where suddenly you realize that you never talk about anything. you merely talk. that you can't remember the last time you sat down and worked through something that mattered together. where you start to compare the way things used to be to the way things are, and realize how shallow they have become. how you just skim the surface. that while you know each other, it is a knowledge based on the past. that you haven't bothered to know each other in the present. that whatever time you take for each other, it's entirely different than making time for each other.

i'm not asking if this is someplace that relationships can end up.
i'm asking if upon reaching that place, whether meaning is lost.

i'm talking about any kind of relationship. friendship, love, everything in between and opposite. nothing too specific, but a general passing of time in my life.

because if you can't prioritize a person, what value do they have to you? or you to them?

when you lose someone and yet they are still a part of your life, what does that make them? what does that mean?

i'm reading thoreau. emerson before that. and they don't so much make me think straight out, as think about the way i used to think. growing up. reading louisa may alcott and absorbing it all sideways through eight cousins and rose in bloom and so many others. i'm thinking about what's been bothering me lately. and why i stay home so often when i should be seeking people out. i guess i'm thinkng about what's wrong. or what's missing.
